My 1st 5K walk
May 15, 2011 I completed my 1st 5K walk with my baby sister and my husband. It rained, but we didn't care...we were out to improve our health. We had a time of 52 minutes.
My 2nd 5K walk
This was I did again with my baby sister. We improved our time - 48 minutes. We came in 3rd place for women walkers.
40 lbs
This picture represents 40lbs gone...Rilan weights 40 lbs and I lost 40 lbs. We celebrated by going for a bike ride...special day for Mem and Rilan.
Zip Lining
This was a hugh accomplishment for me to Zip Line...just 3 months prior, I didn't meet the weight restrictions. So I did it just because I could. And I found I loved it. I screamed and laughed all the way down, they called me the "SCREAMER".
May 15th to July 26th
This is a photo crop...to show the difference in weight.
50 lbs
This picture represents 50 lbs lost. Gracie weighs 50 lbs and I lost 50 lbs. We celebrated on our hike up White Cap...fun day for Mem and Gracie.
1st 5K RUN 9.11
I ran my 1st 5K (run)....I ran in to remember 9.11. I carried an American Flag...I had cars going by tooting their horns, and I would wave the flag. I had tears in my eyes.
I thought about all of those who lost their lives, I thought of all of those who helped look for survivors, I thought of all we have lost, I thought of all those fighting for our country. Then near the end of the run, I thought about how strong we are today because of what happened. We are United and Strong. And that is how I finished my run STRONG!
I am proud to be an American....

Bury "My Fluffy Self"
September 17, 2011 my husband and I went to the Maine Coastline and I burried "My Fluffy Self". This was important for me to do, and yet hard for my husband in a sense...my husband has loved me for over 21 years and my weight was never a factor into that love. Maybe that is why I love him so much. But I buried her never to listen to her again. She is gone and I continue on My Incredible Journey.
After that burial, we walked on the beach...took some pictures and flew a kite. These are all things that I would not do when I was heavier. We had a beautiful day that I will never forget.

Lifestyle Change Award
On September 18, 2011, I was awarded the Lifestyle Change Award. This award was for making an outstanding lifestlye improvement to live a longer, stronger life as part of the American Heart Association's Start! movement.
My aunt Avis, my sister Lu-Ann and my nephew Nathan nominated me to the River Valley Healthy Communities. I feel so blessed to have such a supportive group of family and friends and now community that support me in my Lifestyle Change "My Incedible Journey".
After the award, I walked the Heart Walk with my husband (who is a survivor) and my sister Lu-Ann...it was a great day out walking in the community raising money for the American Heart Association.

Trail Race 2011 at Black Mountain
I ran my first 5K trail race (off road) on October it was one of the hardest runs I have ever done. It was on the x-country ski trails...very muddy and very hard. I watched my footing all 5K, but then I looked up for just a second just as I was crossing the finish line and I rolled my ankle on a rock and I fell across the finish line. I wanted to finish strong, I wanted to jump up and down....I was thrilled to have completed it. And down I went...UGH!
I ended up 3 overall for women and 2nd in my age group for women. Even though I was dead last....the important thing is I finished it. I realized that day, I can do anything I put my mind to...I just have to watch my step.
But now looking back at it, I was glad I did it. I am not sure I will risk injury again, I ended up spraining my ankle and it set my workouts back some. I will have to stop running until it is healed. I think I should keep it on the road.

7 month comparison
This is a 7 month comparison on my weight loss...Note: I am wearing the same running suit...Gota love it!
Snowshoeing with the cousins
January hike this day was so cold we could see our breath...we didn't go far, but we sure had fun...then came back to my gym and did stretches and enjoyed fun yogurt parfaits...yumm!
Snowshoeing with Dad
Dad is 74 years young and I am 74 lbs lighter and healthier. We went snowshoeing on this special day, tracking the deer behind our houses. Building memories with my Dad.
Taking the running suit in.
It was time, I had the running suit altered. I had two inches taken in on the legs, one inch taken in around the inseam, one inch on the hem (legs) and one inch on the sleeves...I should be able to wear it to goal now.
Meeting my South Beach Friend "Patrones"
On February 4, 2012, I met with a South Beach friend "Patrones". We met up in Portland, ME. We enjoyed a healthy lunch at Olive Garden with great conversation and lots of laughs. Then we did a 3.5 mile walk around Back Cove. This was a highlight on my journey for sure. We are both living and loving a Healthy South Beach Lifestyle.
We have plans to meet again in South Beach Florida to meet Dr. Agatston together in September 2012.

75 pounds lost
The two kids add up to 73 lbs so we added the 2 lb hand weight to equal 75 lbs.
Notice you can not see me very well behind the kids...that is how I felt behind all the fat.
I am done hiding...I am ready to live my life to the fullest.

Meeting my South Beach friend "Miss Vicki"
On February 19, 2012, I met another of my South Beach Friend "Miss Vicky". Miss Vicky has helped to support me along my journey thru South Beach Online. I remember last fall Miss Vicki was race walking a half marathon, and the only way I knew how to support her thru this, was to go out and walk at the same time as her marathon. Note: she did 13 miles and I did 7 miles that morning.
It was awesome to meet Miss Vicky in person, we met up at the Old Port in Portland and walked along the walking trails. I think we talked more than we walked...it was an amazing experience for both of us.
