White Cap; June 8, 2011
I climbed White Cap...it was just under a year ago, I let my weight keep me from doing what I wanted to do. I used every excuse in the book why I couldn't climb the mountain. Only now can I finally admit, it was my weight that kept me from doing it...NO MORE! I will never let my weight keep me from doing what I want to do.
Table Rock
I hiked up to Table Rock with my baby sister....we had a great afternoon. The hike was a bit challenging for me, I took a lot of breaks, but I did it, and it felt good. I was so happy to share a healthy picnic at the summit with a wonderful friend (my sister).
Mt. Will
Mt. Will is a great hike. I hiked the Mt. Will trail with my friend Christine. She was very patient with me, she took as many breaks as I needed on the way up. We took time to capture some kodak moments. I remember, it was a longer hike than we had antipiciated and it was getting dark on the way out...we needed a headlamp to watch for the blazes.
Arethusa Falls
Hiking into Arethusa Falls and then continuing onto Frankenstein Cliffs with my husband and Sam and Lizzy (my two dogs). The hike into Arethusa Falls was a nice 1.3 mile hike into this beautiful waterfalls, we decided to continue onto doing a loop and going by Frankenstein Cliffs this was a total mileage of 5 plus miles. It was a bit more than we probally should have done that day, but when we finished we felt a great sense of accomplishment. Sometimes you just have to push beyond your comfort zone. We did that this day for sure.
Frankenstein Cliffs
After Arethusa Falls, we hiked over to Frankenstein Cliffs...this was a 5 plus mile hike...it was more than we really should have attempted, but now that we did it, I am glad we did it.
Bald Mountain
I hiked Bald Mountain with my good friend Wayne and my husband and my two dogs. When you get to the summit, there is a fire tower you can climb it and take in the views 360 degrees and 4 bodies of water. It was just breathtaking.
Eustis Ridge
Eustis Ridge is actually a road hike...I consider it a hike because you hike up 1 mile of steep incline. We did this two days in a row, but the first day we did this we got about .2 miles from the top and we turned around (if we had just gone around the last corner). We made it all the way the second day and we took time to do some photos.
Popular Stream Falls
On this beautiful July morning we hiked into Popular Stream Falls Hut. This is a section of the Maine Hut trails. This was a beautiful hike with two waterfalls and a gorgeous Hut at the end of the hike. We hiked in with our two friends Christine and Wayne, and when we were at the Hut two of our other friends showed up Bouds and Doug. We plan to snowshoe into this hut in the winter.
Flaggstaff Hut
We decided to hike into Flaggstaff Hut the same day we did Popular Stream Falls. This completed our day with 10 miles of Maine Hut trails. This picture was taken at the end of our day we look tired, and we were. How do you spell relief "Moleskin".
Hiking White Cap; July 30th with my Dad
I hiked White Cap with my dad (73 years young) and my husband. It was a day to remember, we talked all day and he told me stories about all the times he climbed this mountain. There will never be another day like this one, and I will treasure this day forever. I loved being in a very special place with my dad.
White Cap; Aug. 6th 2011
This hike up White Cap was a "Cousins Hike". There were 30 of us, and I think we were all related in one way or another. My granddaughter "Miss Gracie" and I celebrated the fact that I have lost 50 lbs and she weights 50 lbs. I love being on White Cap, and I especially love that this year I was able to hike the Cousins Hike.
Hiked White Cap, October 1, 2011
We hiked White Cap again October 1, 2011. This hike was with Don, Kim, and Cameron. The weather was not the best...it actually rained hard the last half mile coming out. But all and all it was a great morning out in the woods hiking. I can feel how much stronger I am from the 1st time I hiked it back in June. The feeling is still so great once you reach the summit....This is the best place in the world.
Mt. Monadnock
Mt. Monadnock is the 2nd most traversed mountain in the world... I hike this on October 8, 2011 with Don, Miss Gracie (the little mountain goat), and Scott and Bethe, and Eli and Molly. We took the Pompelly Trail which you can see in the picture we started at Dublin lake (in the photo) and climbed along the ridge, it is 4.5 miles one way...it is like climbing 4 mountains having 4 summits. It was the hardest hikes I have ever done. I can't wait to do it again.
Hike the River
October 29, 2011, my Longtime friend "Lisa" and I hiked the River "Sunday River" We hiked up to North Peak and back down the otherside. This was an organized hike to raise money for the Cancer Foundation of Maine. It was opening day at Sunday River and it felt good to know we were hiking up the mountain when some people were riding the chairlift. Lisa and I wanted to get close to the snow, we wanted to make a snowman. But we never got close enough to that trail. It was a great day spent with a wonderful friend. We want to get in more hikes together before the snow flies. Tumbledown, here we come.
6 mile Hike around Christian Valley
This hike was on December 18, 2011, It was with Bonny and Kimmy and Vinny and Lizzy...we just kept hiking...we had so much fun talking and catching up on each others lives...we ended up with a 6 mile hike that day. We learned a lot about hiking in the winter (water freezes). Note to self: wear my camel pack inside my jacket next winter hike. Our route was out the snowmachine trail up behind Jasuad's and up Red Hill Road to Red Hill....down by Nordall's and up to Earl's and out to see the frog in the tree...then to the Abbott place and back down Kimball Road. Kimmy was the tour guide. We have decided that we will have a cousins day once a month and either hike or snowshoe or x-country ski thur the winter months...I can't wait to see what 2012 brings. I love hiking with these ladies. We grew up in these woods and they are a wonderful place to explore.
Blackberry Lane
This is a great place to hike you on a clear day you can see Mount Washington it is just beautiful up there.
White Cap March 10, 2012
Winter hiking with the Barker cousins... There were four of us cousins on this hike plus Vinny. It was a beautiful day, cold at the summit, but we were dressed for it. This mountain has so many memories for all of us and this was the first time three of us had hiked it in the winter. Although we didn't need snowshoes it was still considered winter hiking.
White cap with with Pink Girls
On March 18, 2012 I hiked White Cap with the Pink Girls and my friend Kathy, along with the Mahoosuc Land Trust. There were about 30 of us on this adventure this day...I enjoyed meeting new friends with simular interests. It seems so matter how many times I climb this mountain the feeling is the the same for me "THE FEELING IS JUST SO GREAT!" I love this mountain.
When we started this hike this day the temp was 35 degrees...when we finished the temp was 75 degrees. Layers were key on this hike.

Overnight hike into Grand Falls Hut
March 31 thru April 1, 2012, This hike was a celebration of life..."Lisa turns 50 hike"...Seven incredible women hike in 8 miles into Grand Falls Hut. Mike and Lyndsey the hosts at the hut, cook us an awesome dinner birthday cake and all, and then a beautiful breakfast in the morning. We spend the night at the Hut, and hike out in the next day. The hike was along the Dead River...it is a beautiful hike. We laughed the whole 16 mile trek. It was fun for everyone, and we created so many beautiful memories.
